Kids Of Steel Triathlons

The Ottawa International Triathlon includes Race #1 of the Bytown Storm “Kids of Steel Series” will give kids between 5 and 13 the chance to race on a world stage.  The stunning Ottawa backdrop and Rideau Canal provide a unique, picturesque venue with a safe, suitable course. This is also the first event of the 2017 Triathlon Ontario Youth Cup Series (aged 12-13yrs). The objective of the non-draft legal 12-13 age group race series is to introduce Youth to a competitive race series environment with officials to help transition from the participation- focused Kids of Steel race experience. Distances:

U13 Boys (12 & 13 years) 300m swim/10km bike/3km run (4 lap bike/3 lap run)
U13 Girls (12 & 13 years) 300m swim/10km bike/3km run (4 lap bike/3 lap run)
U11 Boys (10 & 11 years) 200m swim/5km bike/2km run (2 lap bike/2 lap run)
U11 Girls (10 & 11 years) 200m swim/5km bike/2km run (2 lap bike/2 lap run)
U9 Boys (8 & 9 years) 100m swim/2.5km bike/1km run (1 lap bike/1 lap run)
U9 Girls (8 & 9 years) 100m swim/2.5km bike/1km run (1 lap bike/1 lap run)
U7 Boys (U7 years) 50m swim/1km bike/0.5km run (1 lap bike/1 lap run)
U7 Girls (U7 years) 50m swim/1km bike/0.5km run (1 lap bike/1 lap run)

Course:

The swim courses will consist of one out and back swim along the shore of Dow’s Lake.

The bike course will feature laps of a 4.3km out and back loop or a set 1km loop for younger athletes.

The 1km run course will be on smooth-paved roads. Younger athletes will complete a set distance loop of 250m or 500m. After the distance or final lap of the run athletes will turn right to the finish line.
